I would like to comment on the organization flaws that happened that night with the shuttles situation. There was absolutely no organization whatsoever with those buses. The end result was my group of four people waiting to get lucky enough to snag a spot in line to get on the proper bus we needed to get to our cars. It was every man for himself. We were treated as herding cows. The buses were then getting stuck in the mud, tractors were being used to push people out of the way, people were jumping on buses attempting to ride away by just holding on, it was total anarchy. 3.5 hours later, after getting told to stand in a place to load the bus, waiting there, then being told that was then the wrong place to stand, (9 or 10 times this happened) I finally opened the Emergency Exit back door of a bus, jumped in and loaded my friends in. I did not care at that point, as no one else seemed to either. Never in my life have I experienced such a horrible disaster of a shuttle organization. I am from Buffalo, NY. And I can assure you that I will never return to an event hosted by this business.

Yeah... I know it was the town's first ever concert, but that's still no excuse. - For people who had VIP tickets, they really got screwed. - Parking was supposed to be free, and we ended up paying. I had Gen Admission. My friends had VIP. I looked over in that crammed VIP section, and I thought "Wow, they're jammed in like sheep." And they were. I knew they'd over sell the VIP section (greed). - People in VIP, also said if they left to go to the bathroom, they couldn't get back in! And, they ran out of beer tickets? Conflicting reports: They ran out of tickets, or beer - or both. But, how do you run out of either? - The VIP tickets main perks were: Parking, Bathrooms and Beer. ALL 3 were not what were promised. -- Whoever paid for VIP tickets should get a refund of the difference between the VIP price and Gen Admission price. ---- Also, I love the country, and I love farms. So, it was on farm land, and muddy -- that's fine, but as event promoters, producers and/or runners, be prepared! -- I'm grateful I got to park with friends in the VIP section. The Bus Shuttles were horrible... I felt bad for people as we left, much less as they were getting there. --- I'm also from Buffalo, NY. I've seen The Hip over 50 times. --- I was luckily hungover from the night before, so I didn't drink any beer (if they were out), I got to park in the parking lot (which people were also getting stuck), and I just watched the music. I also didn't go to the bathroom while I was in there, so no lines for me. So, it was OK overall for me... but, for the planning of this event: Horrible. If they have a 2nd huge event there, I'm sure they'll learn from their mistakes - but this was a one-time only deal. No other big names will go to Bobcaygeon. They'll just go to Toronto or Peterborough. So, it was a one-time deal. Maybe, in a way people can forgive the mess for that -- for a town that was trying.

Cheers to my Buffalo friends! I have had many concert experiences of the mind-bending sort and all have gone off without a hitch due to the "Less is more" concept regarding certain 'rules'. We could definitely learn from our neighbors to the south in this regard...

I live just outside of Fenelon Falls, which is about 15 min from Bobcaygeon. A bunch of us drove to Fenelon to take the shuttle to the event. Same problem as our friends from NY. Walked to Bobcaygeon (over 1 hr) and phoned a friend to pick us up and take us back to Fenelon to get my car. Got to my car about 3:30 am and found a parking ticket on my windshield along with everyone else that parked in the High school lot.

Thanks Fenelon! I'm sure our friends from the South can't wait to come back.

I am also from Buffalo, NY and came up to the beautiful Kawarthas for the concert. (I was with "Anonymous" - there were three of us - all hardcore Hip fans from the States.) Anonymous hit all the points right on. I would also add that you needed (seriously) binoculars to see the stage from the VIP Prison. Total bummer all the way around. However, we have all seen The Hip too many times to remember and every concert has been amazing. So we'll forgive them this one. And actually, I put the bulk of the blame on the promoters. Bad job. They should be grounded and sent to their rooms with no dinner. Or sent to the penalty box.

Anyway - great trip otherwise. Discovered a great lodge over on Sandy Lake and enjoyed beautiful Bobcaygeon. However, I did not see the constellations reveal themselves one star at a time as it was a cloudy night.

Final note - Love Canada. And thank you to the other bloggers here for referring to us Yanks as "friends to the south". We consider you our "friends to the north." Peace out.........
